Programs - Unit Descriptions

NITZANIM (Buds)
For youngsters entering third or fourth grade who want to try the camp experience for the first time, our 12-day mini-camp, Nitzanim, is perfect. It includes all the fun, excitement, games, learning, exploration, and friendships of camp - just in a shorter time period. Nitzanim campers are fully included in the camp program and enjoy the community and friendships built at Camp JRF, all in a safe and fun environment that allows them to bloom into full-fledged campers next summer.

ILANOT (Trees)
Entering fourth, fifth, and sixth graders plant their roots in the camp community as members of Ilanot. Ilanot campers are part of our basic camp program: swimming, drama, the ropes course, singing, boating, dancing, playing and more. They dig deep into our traditions exploring the Reconstructionist values and discovering how they can live as part of a 24/7 Jewish community. They are the backbone of camp, and their experiences help them - and all of us - grow in so many ways.

NEHALIM (Rivers)
Campers entering seventh and eighth grades are Nehalim, "rivers." Nehalim provides an opportunity to dive more deeply into discussions, programs, and experiences and to more fully engage in the richness of Jewish civilizations. The Nehalim camper learns what it means to be part of a vibrant and constantly changing Jewish community - while enjoying all the fun and activities of camp.

HARIM (Mountains)
For entering ninth and tenth graders, Harim, "mountains," provides an opportunity for campers to challenge themselves and others to strive to reach their goals. With the innovative programming and incredible activities campers expect from Camp JRF, these teens also participate in adventure, exploration, and tikkun olam programming. These campers learn they are at once a small part of the world and at the same time able to make a difference in someone else's entire world.

HADRAHA (Leadership)
Hadraha, our leadership training program, will be open to entering twelfth graders. Taking place over the course of both sessions, this full-summer program will provide teens with the opportunity to explore the meaning of leadership, hone their skills, and begin to make the transition from camper to staff member. With a small group of participants and a highly experienced staff, Hadraha proves to be a defining experience for all.

NO'AR HADASH ISRAEL EXPERIENCE
Entering eleventh grade have the opportunity to fly together to Israel for more than three weeks of touring the land and living the experience. The trip will begin and conclude at Camp JRF - bringing the experience of a lifetime back to the camp community. This is program is run by No'ar Hadash the Reconstructionist Movement's youth group.
