Tikkun JRF

A Tikkun Olam Project: Week of Service
August 15-20, 2010

For teams of post b’nai mitzvah teens and their parents
who wish to provide service work to a local community.

Join Us:

Post b’nai mitzvah teens and their parent(s) will spend a week working together to make a difference by connecting to local communities and providing much needed support and building through:

  • A variety of tikkun olam (social action) community service projects such as building, home rehab and demolition, light carpentry, and more.
  • Working side by side with one another, parents will model the caring and activist values they hold and teens will experience the power of their potential to make a difference in the larger world.
  • Reaching for a challenge that is beyond your comfort zone and widens your experience.
  • Learning from and about the communities we serve, with time for reflection, journaling, and Jewish values discussions.
  • Creating community at Camp JRF while branching out and serving other communities.

Details and Logistics:

  • Enrollment is currently open for a group of 15 adult-teen teams. Teens must be post b’nai mitzvah age (13 or older) and be accompanied by at least one parent.
  • Participants will live in an active, participatory community. Single-sex cabins have bunk beds, electricity, and clean toilets and showers.
  • Meals are kosher with vegetarian options.
  • Diverse skills and talents are welcome, including carpentry, painting, music, photography, worker bee ethic, education, and more.
