Camp JRF is in the middle of a very aggressive campaign to raise $7 million in order to fund our new home on the Aaron and Marjorie Ziegelman Campus. The site we have purchased cost $5 million, and our hope is to raise the additional money to put the finishing touches on the facilities. The foundation of our campaign is a $1 million lead gift from Aaron and Marjorie Ziegelman of New York. With that gift, we have been able to secure substantial donations from across the Reconstructionist movement. Camp JRF has received the enthusiastic support of the entire movement in this endeavor, including endorsement by the full leadership of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association, and the movement as a whole. We now look to expand our reach and raise support from the greater Jewish community, as this project is truly beneficial to the future of the entire Jewish people.
Camp JRF has already received support from major organizations in the larger Jewish community. We are honored to be the recipient of support from the Harold Grinspoon Foundation. With their help, we have been able to secure additional staff and consultants in order to become more aggressive in both our campaign and in our preparations for the new site. Coupled with the support of the Foundation for Jewish Camping, which has provided invaluable support in our planning and in publicizing our efforts, Camp JRF is poised to take full advantage of the new site as well as the energy and expertise of our friends and supporters.
It has been some time since leaders in the
Jewish community have had an opportunity to make a transformational
impact on the future of the North American Jewish experience.
Together, we can make this new camp a reality.
To paraphrase our sages: If we do not do
this for ourselves, nobody will do it for us. If we
do not respond to the challenge, we are not meeting
our obligation to future generations. If we do not do
it now, the opportunity may pass us by.
